19th c neoclassical toile de Jouy 'Amour et Médaillons'

This popular neoclassical toile de Joy was designed by Huet in 1808; I believe it is a later copy, probably dating to the late 19th century, an unused panel in superb condition, roller printed on cotton. Here you see the Napoleonic or Empire influence on design at its peak.

  1. It is rather wonderful. Those chubby cherubs with their Rubanesque rotundity are a delight!
