Scheurers from the wonderful Sue!

I haven't been so excited by a batch of textiles quite a while, my first parcel of antique French Scheurer samples arrived in the post yesterday, courtesy of the lovely Sue from Vintage to Victorian. I am totally amazed at the bright, beautiful colours in textiles that are over 100 years old! These samples must have been very carefully stored to retain their immaculate finish.
I intended to sell most, and keep a few 'choice' examples for myself, but I think it may have to be the other way round, sell a few, and scrimp and scrape for a while to justify keeping nearly all of them! It never ceases to amaze me how possessive I can be where textiles are concerned...

Here are a few photos to drool over, these are the first four I have reluctantly steeled myself to part with, I have to keep reminding myself that I run a business, and must pay the bills! That is one of the hardest things about running this business, beacause I only buy textiles I love, it can be really hard to part with anything. Thanks again Sue!

  1. Hi Lois - I have the same problem, but they're going to have to go eventually. However ... the pile of ones to keep is getting higher by the day. What's that piece of fabric 6th down in your sidebar - the one with the roses and purple florals - do you still have it? - Sue

  2. Hi Sue,I would love to see the pile of ones to keep... I still have a bit of the French roses cotton left, I will email you with details, and will get back to you to discuss more samples, as soon as I get some salad seedlings planted in the garden (under cloches of course, we may still get some frost)! xx

  3. I sympathise Lois...but those gorgeous Scheurers are a one-of-a-kind indulgence, the like of which will probably never be seen again in such condition.

  4. You are right Niki, they are really incredible. Some of the ones I am keeping are so special, they have pride of place in my personal collection, and are teaching me so much about fabric of that era! xx
