Le Char de l'Aurore 1792

Some inspirational images for such a lovely sunshine-filled Sunday, I hope you all have a relaxing and/or productive day, depending upon your aims.

This late 18th century French toile shows scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses, the engraving is incredibly detailed, in the style of a sophisticated book illustration as was common in the early days of cotton/linen colour-fast printing technology. It is one of my favourite designs dating to 1792, copper-plate printed by TP Meillier & Cie of Beautiran near Bordeaux.
