I have been away from my blog for a while now, and have missed it and you all tremendously, but things have been a bit hectic here for one reason or another, and I just haven't found the time to blog, and when I have had the time, haven't had the inspiration!
My daughter (and I) has made a very succcessful transition from home to University life, I know I must have done something right, as she is now building a solid reputation for her delicious home-cooking among her friends, something a lot of the other youngsters don't seem to be able to do unless its heating a ready meal or using the microwave... Her room looks like a mini version of a shabby chic 'Country Living' style photospread with her vintage eiderdown, bedspread & cushions, her quirky selection of books and vintage nick-nacks, and of course, her antique typewriter - she is studying English with Creative writing.
I find it a bit quiet at home without her, but we speak on the phone almost everyday, and she is coming home at the weekend for her 'Reading Week', so I shall look forward to spoiling her rotten!
I shall finish my blog about Charleston in the next day or two - sorry for the wait Phyllis - but in the meantime, just to get me started again, here are some pictures of a beautiful French Beauvais tapestry chair cover dating to about 1750. It has quite a lot of damage, but you can still see & appreciate the quality of the design and workmanship. More regular textile ruminations in the near future, please watch this space! Lois xxx
Lovely to see you back Lois. I wondered if you'd dropped off the edge of the world. So glad you haven't!!!!
