A couple of times a year I share a stand with a friend at a vintage fashion fair with the rather dubious name of Frock Me!... It gives me a chance to sell some of the bits and bobs I find while I am trawling around for fabric & textiles, mostly French; all sorts of stuff - I really can't resist anything pretty...
This Sunday 28th February is the next Fair, at its new venue in the Brighton Corn Exchange, plenty of choice here if you like vintage clothing & accesories, from ball gowns to handbags, shoes to jewellery, plenty for the dapper vintage styled man too. There should be about 80 wonderful stands to explore, browse and rummage.
This time I have plenty of gorgeous vintage French handbags & shoes, lingerie including some amazing 30s woolen & cotton & silk stockings, '50s conical satin bras that even Madonna would be proud to wear, corsets, satin slips, a stunning 40s silk Damask evening gown and much much more.
This is the first time the Corn Exchange has hosted the event, and it looks to be the perfect venue, ideally situated in the middle of Brighton's trendy North Laines area, close to bus routes & Brighton Station, with ample (but not free unfortunately) car parking nearby. There is a charge of £4.00 entrance, with student discount with NUS card.

Okay. I am drooling. Why do you live so far away?
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing well. I have been thinking of you.

We had a lovely time, lots of friends & very friendly visitors & customers. There were an amazing amount of stands, filled with the most delicious clothes & accessories, but I forgot all about taking photos, as it was quite a busy day! I shall try to remember to take lots to share in the Autumn when we plan to do the fair again.
ReplyDeleteI am off to an antiques fair tomorrow, so shall try to take some photos for a post, as this one is usaully packed with beautiful interesting, weird & wonderful things!
I hope your sale went well, once I have cleaned up the fallout from my sale, I shall relax in the comfort of your blog & catch up. xxx
Hi! I found you through Mendofleur, and I have so loved scrolling down through your posts, looking at vintage clothing and wonderful textiles and romantic tableaux! I like to make paper silhouettes, especially of ladies, and clothe them in fabric scraps, paper boots, fantastical hats. I loved a peek into your theatrical past, and I will come back to see more! xo Kari
