Happy Burns Night for Tomorrow! Haggis & a fine Single Malt Whiskey

Scotland is famous for many things, Harris Tweed, Tartan, Whiskey, Haggis, Mauchline ware and poet Robert Burns to name but a few. Here are some pics to celebrate Burns night, including one picture of the raw ingredients for the meal: Haggis, usually a sheeps stomach stuffed with barley, herbs & spices, vegetables and more, but in this case a vegetarian one, Neeps, or swede, Tatties or potatoes and some gorgeous greens.

Burns Night is usually happens sometime around the 25th January to celebrate the life and works of the Scottish poet Robert Burns. I shall be partaking of the traditional Burns Night meal of Haggis, Tatties & Neeps on Thursday, as a good friend is cooking for me. It will be an evening of fine traditional eating, while sipping a good Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and reading out a few of Burn's poems in my worst Scottish accent! I shall try to track down some bagpipe music, after all, why not go the whole hog! I shall have to be careful, too many whiskeys may result in me attempting to dance the Highland Fling...

  1. How fun. My husband and I attended a local celebration of Robert Burns a few years back complete with Haggis which I could do without. We also did tastings of many different scotch whiskeys. I think I stopped after one too many knowing I had to walk presentably out of the dining room. Have a great time!

  3. I know what you mean Phyllis, a good Single Malt Whiskey slips down a little too easily!
